Document en anglais, disponible en français sous le titre Outil d'aide à l'identification des ravageurs des semis en grandes cultures.
Since 2011, the Réseau d’avertissements phytosanitaires (RAP) insures monitoring of early season crop pests by surveying insects across the province to identify the risk factors and the regions that are the most susceptible to have high populations of those pests . The targeted pests are wireworms (Coleoptera: Elateridae), white grubs (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) and the seedcorn maggot, Delia platura (Diptera: Anthomyiidae). A project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture of Quebec ( MAPAQ) between 2013 and 2015 also enabled agricultural stakeholders to detect wireworms on various sites throughout the province of Quebec. A total of 802 different sites were monitored for both projects. All samples collected were sent to the Laboratoire de diagnostic en phytoprotection (Pest Diagnostic Laboratory) of the MAPAQ, which allowed the identification of the genus and sometimes of the species for major early crop pests.

The staff of the Laboratoire de diagnostic en phytoprotection has acquired great expertise in the identification of those pests. Here is a document resulting from this expertise, which aims to support agricultural stakeholders that wish to identify early season crop pests.
