Ecological Goods and Services (EG&S) and Agroforestry: the Benefits for Farmers and the Interests for Society
This project seeked to estimate the social value of Ecological Goods and Services that emanate from agroforestry practices (windbreaks and riparian forest buffers) and to evaluate their costs and benefits for agricultural businesses. The results show that as public benefits outweigh private net costs, society gains from the implementation of agroforestry systems. The implementation scenarios seem to result in enough public benefits to justify a government intervention in the establishment of agroforestry practices.
